The natural beauty and unparalleled serenity of Pacifica has beckoned travelers to this coastal gem for more than 100 years.
Located just 15 minutes south of San Francisco, Pacifica feels worlds away from the most vibrant, international communities on the West Coast, yet is easily accessible from Highway 1. Its rich cultural heritage and bohemian-esque personality make it an original destination worth uncovering.

Pacifica’s ethereal beauty is enhanced by its Mediterranean style weather.

Once visitors arrive, they find so many other “cool” things to do and see in Pacifica – taking in panoramic vistas atop our hiking trails, to walking the expansive beaches dotting our shoreline. Visitors enjoy being lulled to sleep to the sound of the Pacific Ocean or watching the sunset over the ocean during a delicious meal. With so many wonderful hotel options, activities for all ages, restaurants, shopping and events, there is much to discover and experience in Pacifica.

 One Picardo Ranch
 Pacifica,CA 94044

 About Ranch:   (Ranch History)

Long-time residents of Pacifica, Millard Tong and his wife Alicia purchased Picardo Ranch in January 2005.
The ranch and the Picardo family have a long history in Pacifica dating back to the 1930's.
Patriarch Luigi Picardo grew his vegetables here which he sold in his San Francisco store.
When Luigi Picardo retired from the grocery business, the family began boarding horses on the ranch.

It was at the Picardo Ranch where Millard kept his first horse "Sam".
To be closer to his horse, Millard and Alicia decided to move from San Francisco to Pacifica
with the purchase of their first home in 1973.

With the passing of Luigi in 1975, the Picardo's gradually moved away from farming and working the land.
When the family decided to sell the ranch in 2005, it was by chance that Millard learned of its availability,
beginning the dream of "Millwood Ranch".

In April 2005, Millwood Ranch became a reality with the building of a new barn, arena, round pen,
and the installation of new pastures.

Tucked away in sunny Linda Mar Valley, this 166-acre parcel of land offers many trails leading to
the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.

Millwood Ranch, 166 acres nestled between the mountain ranges behind Terra Nova High School in Linda Mar, Pacifica,
has so much to offer you, your family and, of course, your horse.
We are a nearby, affordable full service horse boarding facility.
We have pastures, pole barns with pastures, 12X12 barn stalls with cleaning and turnouts.

We have riding trails with breath taking views that go on forever.

Whatever you do, whether you are  - if you love horses, Millwood Ranch is an affordable and fun place for you.

The San Francisco Bay Discovery Site is a marker commemorating the first recorded European sighting of San Francisco Bay. In 1769, the Portola expedition traveled north by land from San Diego, seeking to establish a base at the Port of Monterey described by Sebastian Vizcaino in 1602. When they reached Monterey, however, they were not sure it was the right place and decided to continue north. The party reached San Pedro Creek on October 31 and camped there for four nights, while scouts led by José Francisco Ortega climbed Sweeney Ridge, where they could see over the ridge toward the east, and so became the first Europeans to see San Francisco Bay on November 1.

The scouts returned on November 3, and led the entire party up to the ridge on November 4. Franciscanmissionary Juan Crespi noted in his diary, "from the summit of a peak we beheld the great estuary or arm of the sea..."[4] After seeing the immense bay to the east, and having learned from the scouts that further progress to the north would be blocked by the Golden Gate, the party turned southeast and descended toward the bay.

Sweeney Ridge is located in northern San Mateo County and is now a part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.[5][6] The site is both a California Historical Landmark and a National Historic Landmark.[3][2] The spot chosen for the marker is somewhat arbitrary, as the precise location where Portola's party reached the summit of the ridge is not known.
